Beazer Homes is honored to receive the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s 2019 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for the fourth consecutive year.

Beazer built more than 5,000 ENERGY STAR® certified homes in 2018, for a cumulative total of more than 58,000 homes since joining the program, and consistently educates consumers about the benefits of owning an ENERGY STAR® certified home.

The Year in Review

Beazer’s key accomplishments in 2018 include:

  • Focusing on advanced, cost-effective building science solutions for constructing ENERGY STAR® certified homes
  • Transitioning to standardized third-party design of heating and cooling systems to achieve consistent system performance across markets
  • Working with its home energy-rating company partners to develop an ENERGY STAR®-specific training curriculum for use in ongoing company training initiatives
  • Promoting the ENERGY STAR® certified homes program across all forms of media, including print and electronic and at all energy-efficiency forums attended

Going Above and Beyond

Our dedication to the ENERGY STAR® partnership is part of our mission to deliver homes that are comfortable, durable, and provide savings for Beazer homeowners. We pride ourselves in building high-performing homes. To do so, we go above and beyond the ENERGY STAR® requirements.

Throughout the home building process, we inspect “every home, every room, every day”. The ”every home” mantra extends to our energy efficiency testing as well. The Home Energy Rating System (HERS)® rating was developed to measure a home’s energy efficiency and to easily compare the energy performance of one home to another.

Some builders test samples of their homes to determine an average overall score. Every individual Beazer home is inspected, tested, and verified by an independent energy rater to give its own HERS® score.

How We Compare

The average Beazer home has a HERS®score of 60-70, compared to a typical existing home with a score of 130. These relatively low scores correlate to higher energy efficiency, better performance, and result in lower energy costs for homeowners.

Surprising Performance of Energy Efficiency

We’re proud to be backed by nine generations of building experience, and the partnerships we’ve developed along the way. Together, we’ve made energy efficiency a priority, selecting the right people, processes, and materials to deliver a high-performing home. It’s all part of our dedication to delivering Surprising Performance—more quality, more comfort, and more savings in each Beazer home.
