We’re starting 2017 with some very exciting news! Our Beazer Houston team is proud to announce our partnership with Operation FINALLY HOME, a non-profit organization dedicated to building homes for wounded, ill or injured veterans, surviving spouses and their families, the Houston Texans and the community of Bridgeland (Cypress, TX), to build a mortgage-free home for honored military veteran U.S. Army Specialist Clifford Betcher.
Raised in Denton, Texas, Clifford joined the Texas Army National Guard in 2005. In 2006, he was deployed to Iraq to serve a 15-month tour of duty. As a team leader, driver and gunner, he saw and encountered fighting on a daily basis. Just six months into the deployment, his convoy was attacked while out on mission, leaving him with traumatic brain injury and subsequent Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Following his time in Iraq, he was presented with the Combat Action Badge, Army Commendation Medal along with several other commendations for his service.
While PTSD prevents Clifford from working outside the home, he is committed to giving back to fellow veterans in need and is an active volunteer at the local VA Medical Center. Clifford, his wife Wynne and their 7-year-old son have dreamed of a home to call their own in the Houston area, and along with Operation FINALLY HOME, we are excited to make that dream a reality.
Today, the Betcher family was treated to a surprise reveal at the Houston Texans playoff game against the Oakland Raiders at NGR Stadium.
Construction is set to begin this month, with a specially-modified home in Beazer’s Armstrong floorplan and an anticipated completion date of Spring 2017.
