Kim and Matt Herbert used to move around so often, they sometimes joked about their “nomadic” lifestyle. When they decided to move to Alpharetta, they certainly weren’t going to settle for just anything. Find out how a prime location, a tight-knit community and custom design options got these serial movers to settle down with a new Beazer home:

As told by Kim Herbert

Before we lived at 321 Vaughan, we lived in an older ranch home. We were so excited to move closer to downtown Alpharetta, one of our favorite little downtowns with fun restaurants, shops, parks and a great school district. We were on the search! However, we came up with very few options. So few, that we moved into an apartment after our old home sold to wait until something came along.

We were not going to settle – we wanted something amazing. Our Realtor showed us some cute fixer uppers, but for the price we weren’t sold. Getting desperate to get into something, we stumbled on some new build town homes about a mile away from the downtown. We weren’t sure about going with a town home but they looked beautiful, the price was right and the location was great! We went to check them out and immediately we knew it was the place for us!

Antar, our Beazer New Home Counselor, was so helpful and made it easy to navigate all the paperwork and find our dream home, on a dream lot! Two more team members, Rob and Chris, walked us through the building process and really made us feel like they cared that we were 100% happy with the end product. The whole Beazer team was a huge part of making our experience positive and enjoyable!

I have a passion for interior design so I barely slept before I met with the Beazer Interior Designer to finalize our finishes! I loved that all the options were up-to-date. We went with a wood floor upgrade because it had a little more character and tile floor in all the bathrooms to add another elegant touch. For the kitchen, I chose beautiful, creamy gray granite and some amazing appliances.

When I cook dinner, light floods in from my big window and creates such an inviting area. For the first time in my life, I enjoy cooking! Growing up in California, I love West Coast style and this home lends itself to that look – light and airy and effortless. The terrace is a wonderful addition for us because my husband and I can work down there and have out-of-town family stay on their own private level.

Our neighbors have become friends – there is always someone outside to chat with. We have already had neighborhood parties and on warm nights, we like to gather outside. The kids always just want to be playing with friends. We are a close-knit community. During a good part of the year, you can walk downtown to the food trucks on Thursday evenings and get dinner. On the weekends the farmers market is going as well. I love how our town is walkable!

My husband and I laugh about how we are nomads and could move every other year. Moving into this home is the first time we’ve wanted to put down roots and stay for awhile. To be able to have the ability to see our home built from start to finish, have things explained along the way and really be a part of the whole process has made it so much more personal. There is a big part of us in this home. I can’t imagine moving! We really had no idea that the home buying process could be like this, our Beazer experience was a dream!
