Our friends at Furniture Brands are wrapping up the final day of their quest for the latest and greatest in home design trends by going to the “Far East”. One popular element they’ve seen throughout this market has a decidedly Asian influence. The last few years have seen the rise in interest in cultures throughout Asia, and it has shown up in the home in the form of Buddha sculptures and Ikat and Suzani fabrics. This year the trend has focused more on motifs from China. Everything from fabrics to art and furniture has a decidedly Chinese bent. A word of caution; as with any trend, use the items sparingly. The goal is not to make your house look like the local sushi restaurant. And most importantly don’t force it, only purchase these items (or any for that matter) if they truly speak to you. Stay tuned for a market wrap up later this week.
